Lady Rector

Lady Rector (レディ・レクター Redi Rekutā?) is a major character in Lady Jewelpet.

Biography[]

For most of the series, Lady Rector is one of the caretakers of the Petite Ladies, along with Lady Boot. She is also the messenger for Lady Jewel. Lady Rector is the one who gives the exams to the Petite Ladies during their training to become full-fledged Ladies.

A few episodes later, it turns out that she is actually Joker. This was discovered by Miura in episode 46. The reason why she tried to take control over Jewel Land is because of the overwhelming grief she felt when her childhood friend Lady Diana, ran away and Claire became Lady Jewel instead.

Claire, Rector and Rector were always together while working to be Lady Jewel. Rector always end up in second or third with the tasks. When Diana was elected Top Lady she was really happy. To get Diana was her idol and pride. If were to become top lady and lady jewel then she’d do anything for her. Rector decided in her heart to serve her. When Diana left and Claire became Lady Jewel she wasn’t opposed to it but deep down Rector couldn’t quite accept it. Rector felt like she was growing more distant from everyone. On a rainy day she decided with Luea that they changed the world and she felt like she wanted to save Luea sadness. At that time the feeling Rector had when she celebrated Diana wedding was gone. She began to think that Diana had chosen her own happiness with her wedding over Jewel Land’s. Rector decided to punish her, she drag Jewel Land into a crisis, bring down Claire and rule herself.[1]

As a Petite Lady she deciphered many ancient tomes and succeeded in activating magic spells. According to Lady Boot Rector wasn’t chosen because she was too gifted at magic.

When Lady Diana sacrificed herself as a result of her schemes, Lady Rector was distraught and admitted that what she did was wrong. She planned on having Lady Jewel seal the Door of Chaos. However, she was possessed by a Beast shortly afterwards and sacrificed herself with the Final Wand to rid everyone of both herself and the Beast.

Since Momona used the Final Wand to wish for everyone to be alive and well again, Lady Rector was able to be brought back to life. However, she didn't want to be resurrected because she believed she had already done enough, and allowed herself to disappear for the final time after having a reunion with Larimar and they reconciled with each other.

Larimar was her mentor back when she was a Petite Lady. However, Larimar was abandoned by Rector, because Rector wanted more power even though her magic abilities were already dangerously high.

Appearance[]

Lady Rector has long brown hair and topaz eyes. She usually has her hair tied up into a bun and wears a long, purple dress.

Personality[]

Lady Rector is an elegant and graceful woman, the complete opposite of Lady Boot. She fits the image of a lady perfectly. In the past, she was cold and ruthless after her childhood friend Lady Diana ran away, and is revealed to be Joker, who caused all of the bad happenings during the Petite Ladies' exams.

Trivia[]

  • The word "rector" means the head of an institution of higher education, which references Lady Rector herself being the head of the Petite Ladies.
  • She shares the same voice actress as Lady Boot and Levin.
  • She is the first major character to die permanently in the franchise.
